Sleepy Monday... Wonderful day!

Well. I have had a really nice, work-free day today.

Watched 2 movies. K-PAX & The Believer.

Both were very good in very different ways. K-Pax turned out different than I thought it would be, in that it was very realistic... no special effects or Spielbergian endings... Bridges was awesome as usual, and Kevin Spacey was all over this role. Very enjoyable, while it did leave some open ends.

The Believer kicked butt. Very good movie, and as skinhead movies go it was very well acted. Nowhere near the caliber of American History X, but still surprisingly good. It portrays a very different, and much more conflicted view of the Jewish religion than is normally put out in mainstream cinema. The main character verbally digs to the core of what many consider to be the main strengths of Judaism, and portays them in a way that shows them out to be the very things that are destroying society. In many ways, it seems that he is trying to call out to the Jewish culture to change. That he cares for the people, but is angered by the very essence of their lives. I don't know that what I just said made sense, perhaps you'd have to see it to get it.

*Note of caution: There are readers of this blog that are sensative to harsh language and nudity. There are both said items in the Believer. K-Pax doesn't have any of that. Oh yeah, and the Believer has violence too, but with it being a neo-nazi flick... I figured you'd get that one on your own.

I don't remember who has said world is getting smaller for human invention... but most movies takes several month to come to Japan still. I better keep open my eyes to know when they comes!
Those movies seemed really nice!
